Use
Colistin is used in the treatment of bacterial infections & serious bacterial infections of the stomach and the intestine.
Common Side Effect
Stomach discomfort and cramps, Confusion, Dizziness, Burning or tingling sensation of hands and feet, Skin irritation, Weakness of arms, hands, legs or feet, Visual disturbances.
Precaution
It may cause an impairment of normal kidney function and hence should be used with caution in patients suffering from any kidney disease.
It has been also associated with brain damage, memory problems, anxiety, depression and other mental disorders in some patients. Report any incidence of mental illness to the doctor before treatment with this medicine is initiated.
